Pre-purchase Examination

What does the pre-purchase test consist of?
Our aim is to provide a comprehensive assessment of the horse's state of health to identify possible injuries, pathologies or conditions that may affect its performance or longevity. The examinations are carried out in accordance with the standards set by recognised organisations such as AVEE (Association of Equine Practitioners) and BEVA (British Equine Veterinary Association).
Examination process:
- Direct digital radiography to evaluate bone structures.
- High-resolution soft tissue Doppler ultrasound.
- Upper airway endoscopy to detect possible respiratory pathologies.
- Blood tests.
- Electrocardiograms.
- Specific tests for doping detection and international export.
- Other advanced tests, such as scintigraphy and magnetic resonance imaging, in collaboration with specialised equine veterinary hospitals.

Final report
The outcome of the review is presented in a report based on the standards of AVEE. This document includes:
Benefits of taking a pre-purchase test with EquiSportMed
Yes, we travel to any Spanish province and internationally upon request. Contact us with the location and we will arrange it.
The pre-purchase examination veterinarian represents the buyer, not the seller. If the horse already has a veterinarian of reference, we recommend that an independent professional perform the evaluation.
A complete 5-stage examination can take 2-4 hours depending on the number of radiographs requested and the horse. A written report based on the AVEE model is delivered within 24-48 hours.
